Second day of Misaki’s beach vacation. As Misaki and Usui brushes their teeth together, they see Aoi and Nagisa talking. Nagisa will allow Aoi to wear his girly clothes, if he can win this year’s beach volleyball competition, which apparently Nagisa was champion of last year. You play in pairs of a girl and boy, so Aoi asks Nagisa, but due to an age limit she’s not able to enter. Seeing his manly spirit, Misaki decides to join him.

During the pre-tournament match-ups we learn that Usui’s also joining the fray, with as his partner Erika.

The tournament gets underway and the fiery spirits of Misaki and Aoi gets them through to the final round. And as predicted by probably everyone who’s watching this, they’re facing Usui and Erika. Whilst we know that Usui’s doing this so Misaki won’t be the ‘princess’, Misaki believes that he might be doing this to give Aoi an easy win.

But Misaki quickly changed her mind after in no time at all, Usui shows his skill and wins the first set.

We get a sudden outburst from Misaki shouting ‘why is usui my enemy now?’, which she thought out loud by accident. The game continues and as Misaki is about to crash into the pole holding the net up because she ran too fast to get the ball, Usui jumps in soften her crash. He gets a big bruise in his back, but he’s not bothered by it.

Misaki wins due to Usui’s injury but at night she doesn’t celebrate her victory, instead she goes to make sure that Usui’s doing alright. There, he reveals to Misaki why he wanted to win because he can’t stand it if she becomes the beach princess and has her photos taken with other people. With a heart-warming talk, a kiss looked certain, but the end of the festival fireworks start which ended that sweet moment.

And finally with a commemorative photo, our summer story ends.

Did I see a blush or two? Or three even? I think we’re finally getting somewhere with Misaki. It’s all good signs so far, lovely scene in the morning with the nice couple, and lovely scene at night too. Damn fireworks though, they were that close to getting a second kiss, if only the fireworks waited just a few seconds more then it would’ve been such a beautiful scene. Starry skies, fireworks and a kiss. Oh well, they’re just doing this to build it up I guess.

I really do think Usui’s quite the possessive type now. The only reason he joined was so Misaki didn’t have to take photos with anyone else. I dunno if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. Guess in this shoujo kinda context I enjoy it and it’s cute, but maybe in real life it’d be a bit awkward. But whatever, can’t get reality and anime mixed up now can we? I’m just gonna continue enjoying the ride.

So, who else loved the dragonball z reference? At least I think it was… if it wasn’t, it sure looked very similar. Misaki and Aoi power up!  Found it hilarious

Anyway, we got to see some more of Usui’s heroics as he saves Misaki from crashing into the metal pole. He’s quite the man, unlike Aoi, though guess he can show some manly spirit when he wants to, but then he just reverts back to being a girl again…

Poor idiot trio. It’s hard to believe they stayed there all summer to wait for Misaki. Now that’s some commitment, shame Misaki doesn’t see it.  My condolences to them.

So, good episode, got some nice ‘awwww’ scenes. That ends the summer vacation episodes, shame that all Suzuna did was soak her feet in cold water and ate watermelons, though she probably enjoyed it anyway. I’m actually quite amazed that they only got in two episodes for the summer vacation, I was expecting more. But I’m sorta glad, I wanna see more story. Back to school now, let’s see what awaits everyone there.
