With no choice but to win this match to get through, how will Q4 fare against the defending champions?

—————————————————————————————————————-

With the first two matches over, everyone breaks for lunch. So far AL4 have two wins and Q4 and Jurassic Army have 1 win 1 loss. For Q4 to get through they need to win the last match. At that time AL4 comes by to taunt them, but also we learn that Kai and Ren used to be on the same team and they’re apparently evenly matched. They then leave saying they’ll settle it in their match.

Emi comes by with lunch, except they’ve already eaten, and Gouki and Nagisa also comes by to cheer them on.

Elsewhere AL4 greet their leader Ren, who’s come by check on the situation but Tetsu cuts in quickly and says that everything’s fine.

First match will be Kai Toshiki vs Yahagi Kyou and after hearing Kai’s name Ren’s looks rather bemused. In AL4’s ‘locker room’ Tetsu knows that Ren hates Kai, hence why he couldn’t say anything. As soon as Kai stepped up to the duelling arena he could instantly tell that Ren is here.

But no more thoughts on that as the match begins.

A few very quick exchanges happen as both sides deals each other a lot of damage and also Kyou seems to have ‘stolen’ Kamui’s catchphase.

Kai rides grade 3, Dragonic Overlord and everyone thought it was in the bag, but Kyou guards with three units to stop the attack and he also intercepts another of Kai’s attacks surviving that round even when Kai had his trump card out.

Kyou rides his grade 3, Sky Diver, and attacks, whilst he does he activates quite a few skills which results in 3 superior calls and one extra attack enough to land a sixth damage on Kai, but of course Kai guards against it but leaves him with no cards in his hand.

Kai attacks but one of his monsters didn’t have enough power to attack Kyou’s vanguard and Kai’s vanguard’s attack was blocked and in the end he only dealt one damage.

As smug as Kyou is, he declares final turn copying Ren and Kai. He calls a Juggernaut Maximum and attacks with that and his vanguard but both are guarded. However Kai declares no guard against his last attack with Sky Diver meaning Kyou activates its skill to superior call 2 units but due to their low power, Kai is able to guard against it.

And there it is, Kai’s final turn declaration. Because of a heal trigger earlier and letting through Sky Diver’s attack, Kai now has 3 damage triggers face up. He activates Dragonic Overlord’s counterblast giving it 5k power and attacks one of Kyou’s rear-guard because each time its attack hits a rearguard it stands again. Kyou guards Dragonic Overlord’s attack on his vanguard, but Archdragon’s attack deals the final damage.

With that, AL4 suffers their first defeat, but of course Ren saw this coming and glares at Kyou with such force that leaves Kyou running for it and cowering on a bench in their room.

Next match is Narumi Asaka vs Tokura Misaki.

Thoughts:

Well, I’ve always had no doubt that Kai would win, I think the only person he’ll ever lose to is Aichi when he gets good enough, same goes for Ren. Unless it’s Ren vs Kai, then it’ll be hard to tell, don’t think you can get a draw in Cardfight. But yeah, with a guy as arrogant as Kyou, for once I wanted Kai to crush his opponent and I must say he got what he deserved. There were a few turns when I thought Kyou might’ve won, but it became very apparent that he wouldn’t, especially when he declared final turn, you knew that he was gonna lose then. Shame it was a half skipped match, but with the time they had they probably wouldn’t have finished it in this episode otherwise.

Also I thought they made it rather obvious that Kai and Ren used to be on the same team especially with their similar catchphrases, what I’m half surprised about is that Ren and Kai are on the same level of skill. But then when you think about it maybe that’s why he left them because he wanted to be Ren’s rival rather than teammate. Though I still wonder why he gave Blaster Blade to Aichi and how that fits in with everything.

And speaking of Ren, I’m not surprised that he’d come by to watch his team progress, especially when he’s got such a nice view and a nice room. Only downside is that the room only has 1 chair, not that it matters of course. But what I was surprised about was why Tetsu said nothing about Kai, if he’s watching then he’s gonna find out sooner or later, don’t know what’s going on through his mind.

Well next fight is anyone’s guess, though I don’t think they’ll let this match go without Aichi fighting so I predict a loss for Misaki no matter how much it pains me as I do want Misaki to win. But the way things are unfolding, she probably won’t, but she will put up a good put at the very least.

A last thing to note, which was raised by Raven is that AL4 are probably all using Dark Empire clans as he noticed Asaka’s grade 3 card was shown in the preview as Barking Manticore, a Pale Moon card.
