So the detective story they plan to write is about a con man who sets traps for the culprit to draw out the truth. It’s gonna be difficult though as detectives normally just talk. After a brainstorm of ideas, Takagi is really fired up. He tells Mashiro that he was sent 6 boxes of detective DVDs from Hattori to study. Kaya says she would watch them for him to save time, but Mashiro doesn’t mind talking a little longer as he thinks they’re rushing it. He’s still confident that he’ll get an anime though.

On Azuki’s birthday Mashiro just texts her ‘Happy Birthday’ as he’s busy with work. Kaya tells them that a second season of Sei Visual will air and Azuki’s singing in the ending theme. But apparently she really doesn’t want Mashiro to see it, which obviously means he will.

Kaya laughs at how bad Mashiro’s singing is as they watch the video together.

Hattori phones both of them at a later date and due to Mashiro and Takagi’s acting, thinks that his plan is working out perfectly.

But much later he finds out that he’s the one who is done in as Mashiro and Takagi submit 8 serialisation chapters. Hattori reads through deems them interesting. Mashiro and Takagi then press for serialisation. So Hattori agrees on two conditions. One, they are to enter the golden future cup with this as a one-shot and get good results. Two, from now until the summer when the golden future cup is, they are to draw out a 19 page chapter every two weeks. Basically a rehearsal for serialization to see if they are capable. Mashiro eagerly agrees.

Walking back, they meet Fukuda who tells them that he’s also doing a one shot for the golden future cup. He then tells them that he won’t lose this time and they go their separate ways.

Working non-stop and sleeping through school, they’re able to meet the deadlines set by Hattori. They call their one shot, translated ‘dubious detective trap’.

On the day when they decide the entrants, it’s understandable that the atmosphere in the studio is a little downbeat. Kaya’s certain they’ll be okay though. The phone rings, and they’re in! Mashiro texts the good news to Azuki.

So, Hattori’s actually serious about serialization, well he’s bound to give the two a chance sooner or later. And with an actual good name, he obviously believes they can make it. But still, seems like they’ve got a long way to go if they’re this tired after only a chapter every 2 weeks. Though I guess assistant should hopefully solve, or lessen that problem. Well, now that they’re in the golden future cup, they just need to score high.

That’s was quite lot of DVDs Hattori sent… I was wondering where he got the money for them, department money? Most likely, though, seems like a lot to spend for one mangaka team. Or it could be Hattori’s private collection that he’s trying to get rid of and now he has a good excuse… either way, 6 boxes is a bit out of proportion.

I like how Takagi and Mashiro were putting on the ‘marriage at such a young age is a common occurrence now’. They freaked out that girl a little… It’d freak me out too, but then again I’m very old fashioned.

Also, what’s with that random woman handing out tissues? I didn’t see the significance of those random scenes.

I must say Azuki’s climbing up the ladder to stardom rather quickly… even with her bad singing voice she still did the ending theme huh… well, guess Otaku’s will listen to anything if it’s their favourite anime, or favourite seiyuu, or a cute seiyuu. Or a seiyuu?

Anyway, I’d like to say well done to Ashirogi Muto, I’m sure it’ll do well with dubious detective TRAP. That name cracks me up, dubious… haha, just the word makes me laugh. Still, the name’s too much of a mouthful, then again meitantei conan works fine… so yeah sure, whatever. Looking forward to seeing how it does.
