Episode 1: It All Started in My Town, So…

Candy Floss with legs!!!

Fuu is taking pictures of her friends from high school so that she can send them to Chihiro. However, taking one of the photos she kneels on the bench, which topples and she falls over. Lying on the ground she spots Momoneko-sama; a white furry thing (It ain’t no cat or dog!) which jumps and lands on top of her, nevertheless she still takes the photo, hope that a Tamayura may show up. Back in Fuu’s final year of middle-school; early summer, Fuu is with her friend Chihiro and also has a book full of photos taken of the sky. Fuu looks through the photos as Chihiro mentions that Fuu travels a lot to Takehara and then starts crying after realising that she brought up a sad topic about Fuu’s Dad. Suddenly, Chihiro needs to do something and runs off asking Fuu to come with her. Turns out she is actually just showing her a new cuddly doll she made.

Plusle had seen better days

Later they talk about going to the same school, with Chihiro hinting that Fuu could go overseas due to her good English. The photos and items that remind Fuu of her Dad made her sad and so they were locked away. Also Fuu made a promise with Chihiro to go to Takehara someday. Fuu arrives at home and finds her brother Kou had found the photo album that Fuu’s Dad took, which was locked away. She realises that the photos make Kou happy. After, Fuu is helping her mother prepare dinner, she asks to have Dad’s camera. Later, her mother retrieves the camera from the cupboard and gives it to her. At the table she reassembles it as her mother tells her that Fuu’s Dad would always be in her heart. She realises that she remember how her Dad taught her about photography and that would always be in her heart. Back at school, Fuu shows Chihiro the camera and decides to take up photography again. Chihiro crying tells her that she is brave and later Fuu takes a picture of her with the cuddly toy amongst some Tamayura.

Spot the cute one

Fuu’s mother tells her that it is alright with her grandmother for her to go to school in Takehara. However, Kou wants to go where Fuu is going, which makes Fuu’s mother decide that they are moving. Later, Fuu visits Chihiro and tells her that she is moving to Takehara to go to high school, breaking the promise that they would attend the same school together. Chihiro tells her that it is alright and hopes that she would do her best; talking via her plush toy collection. Back at home, Fuu explains that her mother has quit her job and would work in their grandmother’s cafe in Takehara. Fuu is sending a letter and photo to an expert photographer Riho Shihomi, but doesn’t know if she would respond or not. The next day at school, Fuu runs to Chihiro in a panic and tells her that Riho had replied. In the letter, Riho tells Fuu how she likes the photo and also has sent her a ticket, but with no destination. Chihiro suggests that it might be a luck charm.

She's a bit ''Potte''

On 2nd February; the day before she moves. Fuu shows Chihiro her new haircut; making it a fresh start for her. Chihiro presents her with a bag full of plush toys which are new characters. After school, Chihiro presents Fuu with another present; a camera case with ticket holder and a photo album. Fuu immediately puts her dad’s camera in the case and the ticket that Riho gave her in the ticket holder. The next day, Fuu leaves for the train station to Takehara. After falling asleep on the first train, almost missing her stop, she gets on the 2nd train reminiscing about the view of the ocean in the window and in the photo album. She arrives at Takehara and is greeted by Kaoru. Fuu then starts crying tears of joy as she tells her Dad that she is home.

Sorry for the delay, as I was waiting for HD version, but there wasn’t going to be one (others are just up-scaled). This is such a nice anime and does have that warm-heart feeling of a story. It also has its funny moments as Fuu tries to get a good photo and ends up falling over. I also was delayed by the 4 OVAs which I managed to watch without interruptions. The OVAs are in Fuu’s high school days as she tries to find the place where she had took a picture of her father, which is displayed in the window of the photo shop. After several journeys with Kaoru’s sister; Sayomi Hanawa, who shouldn’t be allowed behind the wheel of a car, did not find the place. However in one of the places, Fuu finds the place that Kou had drawn. I not sure if the OVAs are really required before watching the series, I feel that you can skip it, but personally I wouldn’t. Anyway, Phi Brain should be blogged soon, as I want to see episode 2 first before blogging it, just in case it wasn’t all that good. I have to wait and see if I do a 3rd one as Guilty Crown and Last Exile haven’t started yet. So it would be a while.
