Episode 3: Arrival! Battling Girls

Raging Bull

The girls are at the Tamayura cafe and they get to try out the Tamayura special lunch. Fuu asks if Norie and Maon are ok for time as they are planning to go shopping later. Norie and Maon are ok, as they prefer to have the lunch than go shopping. Kou helps his mother with the other lunches and Norie gets excited over Kou and takes the lunch off him.  The girls start to eat except Fuu, who takes a picture of her untouched lunch before eating it and then takes another after eating every bit of it. Fuu’s grandma appears with dessert; peach jelly. The girls enjoy it, Norie then asks Fuu’s grandma to teach her how to make the jelly. She accepts, making the date this Saturday. Norie and Maon then leave to go shopping. Norie wishes that she has a little brother instead of an older one, when Maon whistles that someone is following them. They continue walking until they reach the end of the alley, in which Maon and Norie split up. The stalker runs up to the end of the alley and loses sight of them. She looks around until she is confronted by Norie and blocked off by Maon.

Candy floss with legs

The girl introduces herself as Komachi. Norie asks why she is following them. Komachi tells her that she can see her evil plan, which is to make sweets in order to get closer to Kou. Norie gets worked up by her, even losing involuntarily to rock-paper-scissors and been taunted to chase Komachi, she forgets about going shopping. Meanwhile, Fuu picks up her photos from the studio, but is disappointed how her photo of the lunch turned out. She asks the studio manager for advice. He tells her that it is all about lighting and also capturing how delicious it is, but Kaoru points out that you can’t photograph something you have already eaten. They leave the studio, when Fuu spots Momoneko and tries to get a photo, but fails. Norie and Maon meet up with them. Norie is carrying a bag of peaches, heading to the cafe to learn how to do the peach jelly dessert. At the cafe, Fuu asks where Kou is, to which her mother replies he out playing. Fuu’s grandma appears and Norie tells her that she is ready to learn, but is interrupted by Komachi who tells her that she is there to stop her evil plans, puzzling Fuu.

Add eggs complete with shells

Komachi challenges Norie to a battle of who can make the best sweets. Fuu’s grandma suggests that Kou would be the judge and that the victor would be decided by him. They start the battle, with Norie deciding to make her own version of peach jelly and not the one of Fuu’s grandma. However, Komachi struggles to decide on what to do. Fuu’s grandma suggests that she try and make pancakes. Komachi struggles with the preparations and is distracted by Norie’s progress that she burns the pancake. Fuu’s grandma explains that it is important that when making sweets, is to make so that the person would enjoy it. Her second attempt is much better and then decides to make a fresh source of pancake mix. Fuu’s grandma quizzes her on how long she has been interested in Kou. Komachi tells her since April; when he arrived. She initially thought he was a girl, but was surprised when actually Kou was a boy. Norie finishes and puts the jellies in the fridge, whilst an impressed Komachi looks on. Fuu’s grandma tells her that she can make a good attempt as she knows an important lesson of cooking.

Yummy!

Kou returns and samples the two desserts. However he ends up like both of them equally, calling it a draw between Komachi and Norie. The girls then sample the desserts, with Komachi impressed with Norie’s jelly. Fuu asks why Norie wants to become a chef. Forced by Maon’s whistling, she explains that when she was younger, she got a fever just as her family were going on holiday. She thought her brother was upset because of her, but gets a nijuuyaki from him. She still remembers the taste of the bun and thinks that wanting everyone that eats it makes it sweet and delicious. Fuu’s grandma give a boost of confidence to Komachi as Kou tells her the pancakes are great. Fuu realises this and grabs her camera and takes a picture of Kou eating, capturing the moment of how delicious the pancake is.

[End Credits] Komachi challenges Fuu by taking photographs, explaining that her photography is a means to get closer to Kou, making a timid Fuu.

This episode was ok I guess, but I find that Komachi is a bit weird. However she is still an elementary schoolgirl. Did Norie have to rise up to Komachi’s challenge, obviously not being humble and kept her mouth shut; she is the loud mouth of the group. Also searching around for what nijuuyaki is, I couldn’t find it until locating it under a different spelling/meaning; Imagawayaki, which I think in Norie’s case it was a red bean paste filled one. Still can’t figure out what is Momoneko, but still gets a lot of screen time with the girls chasing it around. Also I have to apologise in advance for the poor screenshots, viewers would understand the reasons for this. Finally, I have still painting work to be completed so would be a while, but I will be posting tomorrow.
