As Otonashi is deciding on who should be next he meets Hinata and Naoi who both want to help him. When Naoi and Hinata starts to fight over it, Naoi’s shadow starts doing weird things. It comes out of the ground forming into some weird black cloud like thing and attacks Naoi. Otonashi tackles it out of Naoi and guns it down.

Yurippe is informed of these things and she orders that all members move in groups of at least two and this shadow is to be treated as a second enemy from Tachibana.

Yurippe decides to meet Tachibana to ask about the shadows. Otonashi, Hinata and Naoi are with them fearing that Yurippe may have found out what they’re trying to do. But in fact Yurippe thinks that the shadows may be a bug from a programming error from Tachibana. She had programmed ‘Wings’ the day before yesterday when the shadows started appearing. Though the wings are just decoration as she was told it made her look more angel-like. Hell yes I agree. When Yurippe asks who told her, Naoi steps in before Tachibana can answer, with Otonashi. Takeyama, who’s in Tachibana’s room, reports that there are no bugs with ‘Wings’, it’s a simple decorative program.

They suddenly hear gunshots and outside a few have been surrounded by a large group of those shadows. Everyone charges in to help. During the fight, Yurippe witnesses an NPC turning into the shadow. Afterwards, Fujimaki runs to them shouting that Takamatsu was done in.

Everyone rushes to the scene only to find his glasses. Always with the glasses… He was apparently eaten by the shadow then absorbed into the ground.

The next day, Takamatsu appears in class. But not the normal Takamatsu. He’s actually attending class as a normal student. Yurippe concludes that he has become an NPC.

She calls a meeting with everyone and informs them of the ‘shadow’ threat. She then calls Otonashi up as she already knew what he is doing to hear his views on everything. With the support of Hinata and Naoi it seems he may have turned some people around, but as Yurippe states, it’s up to them to decide which path to take.

After that, Yurippe asks Otonashi to ask Tachibana to hold off the shadows. He also then realises, thanks to Yurippe, that Tachibana’s not an Angel, which is strange because I thought he realised ages ago. Anyway, Yurippe wants to check out something and says goodbye to everyone and hopes that everyone’s been sent off when she returns. Though it seems Otonashi and Hinata are both willing to stay behind to wait for her to disappear together.

Yurippe, after witnessing the NPC turn into a shadow, realises that they can also be reprogrammed like Tachibana’s abilities. So she decides to check out the only place where there are many computers, enough to produce so many shadows, the library computer room.

There she meets some guy who’s setting up new computers as they keep getting stolen. She knew instantly that it is the culprit who’s playing God in this world and turning the NPCs into shadows. She finds a trapdoor in the computer room and then realise that it leads to the guild!

Well, certainly a nice cliff-hanger to end on and quite the episode too. The shadows were sorta expected, in a world like this anything can happen really. But still, I didn’t expect them to succeed in eating someone, and not Takamatsu, all that muscle, in the end not much use. Well, I do hope he turns out alright in the end, somehow…

So, those shadows appear, take your souls and you turn into a soulless shell. Well, maybe these guy have overstayed their welcome and someone wants to get rid of them. I noticed that when the shadow was shot it dissipated into 1s and 0s like binary code. I would laugh if this turned out to be some form of digital world especially with all the programming of everything and what not. Ah Digimon, brings back memories…

Naoi covering for Otonashi was quite funny, and idiotic, it’s safe to assume that he failed as Yurippe knew what’s going on anyway.

Also, anyone else thought that Tachibana’s angel wings looked stunningly beautiful? I did agree with Otonashi that it’d look amazing. Shame that she can’t actually fly.

So the biggest mystery is, who’s behind all of this? Could it be the leader of the guild? That would be an interesting turnaround, though I dunno, I just can’t see it happening. Well, whatever happens I’m predicting an interesting revelation next episode. After all, it is the episode before last.

Just like to note, TK was ripping the dance floor Michael Jackson style at the end, that was awesome.
