Colorfusical actually came 14, resulting in Koogy smashing his guitar. A three manga competition it is.

The results for the Golden Future Cup will now be recounted in a different way as comparing them with serialised manga can is unfair.

At the editorial department they’re having a little trouble with the results. Kiyoshi Knight, 3rd place 1312 votes and 79% endorsement, Gigantei Trap 3rd place, 1321 votes, 76% endorsement, Hideout Door, 3rd place, 1103 votes 73% endorsement, and Colorfusical 14th place, 482 votes, 53% endorsement. Basically Colorfusical’s last with Hideout Door as third. Gigantei Trap and Kiyoshi Knight battling for top. Breaking it down, the average age that voted for Trap was 14.7 and Kiyoshi Knight was 17.5, a little high. But more than 90% of voters for Kiyoshi Knight were male. But then again Trap had more votes, but Kiyoshi had more endorsement… and the argument continues.

Everyone waits patiently for the results and there’s a burst of excitement as Takagi and Fukuda both hear they’re top, and then it’s explained that it’s a tie for first between Kiyoshi and Trap. And one person saw this coming all the time.

Mashiro texts Azuki about it and she asks for Takagi’s number. Which she uses to call and properly thank him. Their conversation gets a little too friendly so Kaya snatches the phone and hands it to Mashiro. Unfortunately she’s already hung up…

At some random shop we see the same guy from the train looking at the Golden Future Cup winners.

So Ashirogi Muto, Fukuda, and Aoki submit their names to their respective editors who all say it’s good. Looks like it’ll be a heated battle for serialization.

As Azuki heads home, she wants to apologise to Mashiro for hanging up on him. Even after an uplifting talk with her mum about the subject, it seems she still can’t bring herself to talk to him yet.

Ashirogi Muto bring in a revised name and gets the OK from Hattori. Who then talks to Aida to tell everyone at the serialization meeting that they can indeed draw whilst at school and he has evidence of all the names they’ve done.

Night before the serialization meeting and Hattori and Yujiro are both working extra hours in hopes to get their mangaka’s serialized. To break up the tension they decide to go for a drink together. As they talk it seems likely that there’ll only be two new series starting, they hope for more.

A quick slideshow of scenes of various characters and their thoughts end the episode.

There goes my predictions, well, I’m no genius but I wasn’t too far off… though did this actually happen in the manga? I have a really bad memory and I’m too lazy to check too… oh well, let’s roll with it. Still, I thought Colorfusical did better with the way he smiled, guess it was just a crazed hysterical smile then… The people have spoken, Koogy sucks. You can’t get votes by drawing crap after all, shouldn’t count on your fans that much, even they can tell what’s good and what’s drawn on a whim with no plot, planning or effort put in.

One thing I liked about this episode, although very insignificant and small is how they matched Koogy strumming his guitar at the very start of the episode to the normal intro tune.

Also as far as I’m aware I thought you smash guitar for good things… like the end of a good gig?

Trap actually got the most votes, that kinda surprises me a little, I didn’t think they’d do tremendously well competing the mainstream manga. Shows how far the two have come and I guess a tie for first place is a fair result in the end as it was pretty close and it would take ages to decide on the victor.

So everyone’s rearing to go with their serialization names, but who will get it? That is indeed the question. Find out next time on Bakuman! I hope so anyway, they wouldn’t leave us hanging until the second season.
