Erika accidently promises to go on a date with a customer if he wins at a sweet eating event that’s to be held at Maid Latte. Misaki tells her not to worry as she’ll enter and make sure that guy loses.

On the day, Erika dresses Misaki up in some visual kei disguise to enter. The idiot trio and Shintani are entering too.

The competition kicks off, with all the food made by Usui. The idiot trio lose pretty badly with Kurotatsu going out first. And because he had leftovers he gets a powerful poke in the head by Subaru which makes him whine in pain. She then tells the other two not to waste food and they instantly finishes their leftovers and forfeit.

It comes down to the last two, Shintani and Misaki. The prizes are handmade cookies, special offer coupons and a photo with a maid of your choice. To be able to win they need to finish the dessert, and obviously Misaki couldn’t eat anymore especially when Usui makes a whole cake, so the prizes go to Shintani. He wants a photo with Misaki because it’s the same name of the girl he likes. And it seems that everyone in the restaurant knew about Misaki entering as she stood out too much.

Misaki leaves and finds a park bench to rest on. She’s then greeted by Usui and here we go with the lovey dovey stuff.

Next day at school Shintani asks if Misaki knows about Maid Latte, she denies everything, but then Shintani invites her to eat there as he has coupons. She agrees to go and comes up with a plan. Which is go to maid latte with him, leave after a short time, put on a disguise and greet Shintani as Misaki the maid, take photo with Shintani, mission complete. So on the day, Misaki, Shintani, and Usui who tags along, go to Maid Latte.

As they start chatting Misaki finds out that Shintani works part time at a gas station. Usui starts gets a little jealous when Misaki and Shintani talk about their childhood and ‘interrupts’. As the conversation go to part time jobs, Shintani accidently stumbles upon Misaki working at a waitress, and not wanting to lie, Misaki stands up and walks away without saying anything.

Shintani and Usui talk, and they both realise that they like Misaki, so it’s war!

Misaki decides not to lie and comes out in her maid uniform to greet Shintani. Though he gets a bit too loud, but Usui comes in with a suit on and sticks a lollipop in his mouth.

The three then meet around the back of the shop and the two men make clear their war declaration.

So the rivalry for Misaki only just reached the war stage? I thought they knew that they’d be fighting over Misaki ever since Shintani gave her that hug. I don’t know if I like this, there’s only three episodes left in this season and they only just begin their fight. It may take the three episodes just to get it over with if they drag it out long enough. I hope they don’t, cos I still want to see Usui’s background story. They’ve just done Shintani’s background story pretty detailed now so I hope it’ll be Usui’s next. And then after that Misaki will pick Usui most likely. Either that or the series will end without Misaki picking either as is the case with many shoujos that involve more than one possible male partner.

Anyway whilst I enjoyed the comical side of the eating contest I hardly thought it needed to take up so much time. I mean yes I enjoyed it, and yes it was needed to get Shitani his coupons so he could invite Misaki, but I’m sure there must’ve been a quicker way of doing all that.

Hmmm… I think I may be a little annoyed at how they haven’t shown one bit about Usui and it’s already nearly over. I like the Usui and Misaki scenes but not too many. And I do think that most of us will want to know what Usui’s about. They’ve shown enough in the ending to entice me to watch til the end so there better be something good. Either that, or give us a second season!

On a last note, I thought Misaki’s voice was really cute when she was small.
