Just when I thought Akainu couldn't be more of a bastard...

We start by going through the remaining Supernovas, like last week, remember? First is Law, who is still at Sabaody, and tells his crew he isn’t going to the New World yet. His reasoning to them is that ‘One Piece’ isn’t going anywhere. His crew argue that Blackbeard has been going wild in the New World, but he says that those who wants to butt heads should butt heads and be killed. He says to them that he’ll be the ‘Pirate King’, and his crew cheer. Now for X.Drake, who has wound up on a winter island, where a cyborg tells him the island is a favourite of the Yonkou, Kaidou’s. The cyborg warns him not too do anything, or Kaidou will be focused on Drake. That’s exactly what Drake does though, he absolutely wastes the cyborg by turning into a dinosaur. I found that frame particularly funny. On a spring island, Scratchmen Apoo and his crew are running up a hill away from some charging boar, and when they see a cliff ahead, Apoo suggests they jump to get away from the boar. They attempt it, but they start to run up on thin air. Apoo berates the randomness of the island.

We cut to another island in the New World, a burning one, where Blackbeard and his crew are resting. San Juan Wolf complains that his legs hurt, but Blackbeard shuts him up by blaming their ship’s damage on him, and that the negotiation he’s making is for Wolf. Shiryuu says it was a stupid ploy to use the Marutabune to sail the New World in the first place. Jesus Burgess asks if people can be attached to material things, whilst Shiryuu continues to insult them all. Avalo Pizarro tells Blackbeard to make him captain so he can sort it out, and Laffitte tells him that he’d be killed if he said that, as they are the Blackbeard pirates. Doc Q randomly says some philosophical crap, and Basco Shot demands more ale. Obviously. Catarina Devon wants to go shopping for more clothes, whilst Van Auger goes to see what’s taking the Marines so long. Blackbeard then turns to a chained-up Jewelry Bonney and her crew, and starts taunting her, but he then offers her a position as ‘his woman’, which prompts a kick to the face from Bonney. Blackbeard then turns down his offer. Auger says that the Marines are coming with the promised ships, but Akainu is riding one, so the Blackbeard pirates escape. Akainu lands and walks up to Bonney, saying that he’s relieved the Marines have found her, one of the Supernovas. She tells him she’ll never forgive them for Whitebeard’s death.

On Marijoa, Doflamingo informs an official that he didn’t kill Moria, as he used a Kage Kage no Mi ability to turn into a shadow and escape. Doflamingo makes a laugh out of it all whilst the official scolds him, but Doflamingo suddenly walks up to him and threatens that he could leave the Shichibukai whenever he wants, and that whatever position the official holds means nothing for him. Back in Torino Kingdom, Chopper comes back as Chopper Mask, as he is uncomfortable with returning so quickly. The natives easily figure it out though. He quickly discards the disguise and asks them if he can stay for longer. A native brings him to their library, where a surprising amount of books are stored. Chopper then begins to say that he judged on looks first, and that whilst the natives look stupid, they have high tech weapons and a high level of culture. Of course, he insults the natives in front of a native, which doesn’t really help. He then recalls his early days, when he was called a monster and shunned by everyone, and remembers that since he joined Luffy he didn’t care what people called him. He says that he’ll help Luffy no matter what, even if it means becoming a monster. Then we move onto Sanji, who stays in the Kambakka Kingdom. He sits down to eat with Ivankov, and asks about the food. Ivankov says that it is ‘Attack Cuisine’, which has enhancing properties. Sanji asks for the recipie, but Ivankov refuses, kicking him down comically. Iva however gives him a challenge. Since Sanji will not learn Newkama Kenpo the classic way, he will have to defeat all 99 Kenpo masters on the island and gain all 99 recipies for ‘Attack Cuisine’, and then he’ll give Sanji a ship. However, the islanders will chase him around and try to cross-dress him again. Sanji accepts.

Very interesting chapter. When it came down to Akainu coming to get Blackbeard, I didn’t know who to cheer for. Both are pretty big bastards. Akainu killed Ace. But Blackbeard put Ace in that situation in the first place, and stole Whitebeard’s powers. Difficult. Anyway, Bonney’s finished. Also, we find out that Moria is actually alive, which is nice. I’m thinking he’ll become a reformed villain now. It has been dragging on a bit, but now I’m assuming each Straw Hat Pirate will gain a new power or weapon, or at least upgrade their current ones. This week was Chopper and Sanji, with their vast array of books and Newkama Kenpo, respectively. Who knows who it will be next week? But I’m thinking Mihawk may teach Zoro a thing or two, and that will be awesome.
