Seems like there’s a new kid in town, and apparently he’s quite cute too.

Back in school Misaki is forcing all clubs to have a little clubroom cleaning, obviously they’re not happy and a little help from Yukimura makes things rather awkward. Though it does get them to clean up, on account that they get refreshments. As Misaki heads away she meets Usui who’s now healed from his injuries.

Kanou works out that Misaki ‘helped’ Usui out during his recovery and asks her about it. Obviously she denies but then she says it’s because she owes him. He then meets Usui as he retrieves a love letter from his shoe locker. Kanou asks why he doesn’t just start dating so he would gets less of those, but Usui replies that it’s bothersome to get serious.

After an all night rice ball making session, Misaki and her crew start making them as refreshments for the cleanup the next day. Usui is elsewhere looking down at the cleanup progress. He notices the new student, who’s eating grass…

Back at the refreshment making kitchen, the rice balls are finished. Though Misaki may have taken the word ‘ball’ in rice ball a little too seriously… So anyway, the cleanup people rush in to grab their food which makes Misaki a little annoyed so she goes ‘power up’ and chases them out. Oh and they didn’t see Misaki’s ‘rice balls’ as food, so throws them out the window only to hit the new kid in the head and knock him out, but when he wakes up he eat the ball…

Surprisingly, those guys actually cleaned up nicely in the end. A worn out Misaki falls asleep with her rice balls by the window. Usui comes and tries one, laughs at her unbeatable cooking skills and sits next to her. As Kanou watches, he still can’t understand what’s going through their minds.

Next day, Misaki wonders where all her rice balls went when Usui pops out of nowhere. As they’re speaking, that new kid drops out of the sky…

We finally get the new kid’s name, Shintani Hinata, transfer student. He has a rather… unique personality, a cry-baby for one thing, and will eat anything, and he has an unusual ability of being able to tell a food by smelling it from far away… which results in him getting a load of food as everyone make him try to guess what food they’re holding and if he’s right they’ll give it to him.

His background story is somewhat, sad, yet you don’t feel much sympathy… though everyone does. Anyway, he’s in the city because he’s here to meet his first love again. He apparently made a promise to her ‘I’ll follow Misaki-chan anywhere’ something like that. And then Misaki suddenly remembers that she does indeed know this guy from when they were smaller and he was rather chubby.

With a weird turn of events Shintani also realises that this is the Misaki-chan he remembers and embraces her.

Now that was an interesting episode. Who’d have guessed they’d throw in a childhood friend, well sorta childhood friend. Just what this series needs as a build up to the finale, a rival! Though I hardly think a glutton stands a chance against a perfect Usui. Especially when Misaki didn’t even remember him at first, understandable, but still, we all know who’s gonna win, but I’m loving the drama.

So anyway, I thought that Kanou has quite the sharp eye and amazing deductive skills, he could be a detective if he wants. Either that or he’s really good at reading signs. But he does have a good point about Misaki and Usui’s relationship though. I do wonder what’s going on through their heads and their logic is just off, only they can understand their logic it seems. I still think Usui’s the rather selfish type, I don’t get him sometimes, what does he want then if he doesn’t want to be serious…?

Also, Kanou and Yukimura for the win! They are definitely my favourite couple, apart from Misaki and Usui of course. Then again there aren’t many shipping that’s possible here.

Also, I was thinking that the students here aren’t that bad then if they actually did clean up. Though they may just be afraid of Misaki’s wrath. Who wouldn’t, apart from Usui, who may enjoy it…

Okay then, interesting development, I like, first half of the episode didn’t do much though, just showed us Misaki’s rather weird cooking skills. But the second half made up for it. Wonder how Usui’s going to sort this one out. I still see now chance Misaki’s going for Shintani, so I’m not gonna worry. Wonder if this’ll be the catalyst that Usui needs to finally become serious, that would be very welcome.
