Episode 25: Project Meeting!

Azusa is viewing the recruitment video that the Light Music Club made before Azusa joined. The contents of the video are somewhat not relevant, featuring the girls dressing up their instruments and Mio wearing a nursing uniform (Background music sounds like the “Peter Gunn Theme”).  Later, it turns out that Azusa found the video hidden inside a cookie jar in the club room, in which Mio had purposely sealed it inside as she found it embarrassing. The girls remember making the video and reflect on when they made it. It is then suggested that they make a new recruitment video, cueing to Sawako who brings the camcorder. Sawako immediately puts cat’s ears on Azusa and films her saying welcome with a “meow” at the end, which annoys Azusa saying that they should take it seriously.

The club begin their planning discussion #1 (Cue music of “The Terminator”), Sawako suggest a Hollywood Trailer style video, which is rejected, so Sawako goes off to make a revolutionary outfit and leaves. Beginning discussion #2, they decide to feature Ton-Chan in the video, with a voice over, after Yui being confused over Ton-Chan’s gender; they give Nodoka the voice over, which Azusa questions it being relevant to The Light Music Club. Discussion #3 has Ritsu suggesting a change of her appearance with a before and after look, but Azusa says it is too sketchy, whilst Yui suggests dancing in the animal costumes which Azusa also declines as the costumes look scary. Discussion #4 they choose on which cake they would like to eat. After Mugi suggest making the video into a mystery thriller and Ritsu suggest making the video into something like “The Ring”, both rejected by Azusa. After rejecting all of the suggestions, Ritsu asks Azusa what she wants to do, Azusa replies that she would come up with a plot.

Later, at home Azusa struggles to come up with an idea, so she goes and meets up with Jun and Ui in a Fast-Food restaurant pitching ideas from them, after some discussion Azusa comes up with an idea. Back at school, Azusa suggest that they interview people whilst including video clips of their daily activities as their live performances, Sawako enters with some fishnet stockings which is thrown out, along with Sawako. They borrow the live performance video from the council, the first live performance they made two years ago.

Later, they film themselves with Jun and Ui as the film crew, doing their daily activities, which include them eating cake and drinking tea, feeding Ton-Chan and studying. After they go to the roof with their instruments, Sawako tells them to give her the video once they finished so she can edit it for them. They are then filmed holding the Light Music sign asking people to join (Background music is “Gohan wa Okazu”) , after which a number of video clips of interviews with other students are included which have mixed suggestions, some of them seem more off putting than enticing. They watch the finished result on Sawako’s laptop, which turns out to be good, until the last scene features Azusa’s welcome meow filmed from earlier, Azusa immediately seals it along with the other recruitment video, however Mio says that the interviews are important which dwarf her little scene, Mugi then begins filming her. Azusa picks up her courage and films her welcome “meow” again, after she demands it to be taken out.

Since Lucretia is busy, I am blogging this episode. I was pretty excited they were back after the main story had finished last week. However, this episode is what it is, an extra. Quite disappointing really, but I say the episode was ok I guess. They did try to recruit new members at the beginning of the season but they had no luck, however they may get new members with this video as Azusa will be on her own when the rest head to university. The next episode preview shows that we may be able to see Sawako’s house so it may be interesting to see, however I don’t think we’ll be seeing them off to college and what will happen to The Light Music Club with Azusa by herself. However, I believe that she will be ok; we will make sure of that.
