As Halibel falls from Aizen’s attack, a flashback starts.

We start as a female deer like hollow is being chased by a huge male Adjuchas. When the deer hollow is cornered, Halibel comes, kills the Adjuchas and then tells the deer to follow her. She leads her to a cave where two other female hollows are and says that they are to become comrades. And these three are Sun-Sun, Mila-Rose and Apache. Halibel believes that females will be easy prey to the male hollows so she wants them to work together.

After a while, Apache notices that Halibel doesn’t devour all those hollows she beat so she asks why. Halibel says it’s because she doesn’t want to become strong that way, if she can’t win alone, she’ll win in a group.

It appears Halibel’s acquainted with Barragan. They meet and it seems that Barragan’s rather annoyed of her. But he doesn’t want to kill her so he tells her to either join his army or go to somewhere where he can’t see her. Obviously she disagrees and injures a subordinate of his.

And all the while, the trio of Aizen, Gin and Tousen are watching them from afar. When Halibel leaves they jump to greet Barragan.

Later, after hearing rumours of Barragan’s new subordinates with cracked masks, the one that Halibel injured attacks them. Half his mask is missing and he’s much more powerful, enough for Halibel to tell the other three to run for it. Though just before Halibel is killed, the three return to rescue her.

They are then beaten. An enraged Halibel fights back, only to be heavily injured again and on the brink of death again. This time, it’s Aizen who rescues her. On the promise of power and no more casualties to her comrades, she joins up with Aizen.

Present day again. Halibel tries to strike Aizen down, but she is slashed a second time and finally fall to her death.

Now with the Espada gone, Aizen is ready to face everyone.

So, Halibel’s anime only flashback episode, I quite liked it actually. To be honest I think Tite Kubo owed it to her. Especially because of the way how he just brutally executed her from the series. Too harsh I think.

I never quite noticed this, but it became very clear to me in this episode, that Halibel’s quite a big feminist… Huh, I don’t know whether that makes me like her more or less though, strange. And I thought I like feminists, though she may be going beyond the kind of feminists I like.

Again in this chapter I think we saw a bit of how the power levels are messed up in how the arrancar Adjuchas was beating Halibel so easily. I mean if she’s a vasto lorde she really shouldn’t be beaten so badly by an Adjuchas even if he was arrancarfied, their power levels are supposed to be worlds apart aren’t they? She didn’t look like she stood any chance at all, and she ended up third of the espada? I seriously don’t think she could’ve beaten Ulquiorra even without his second ressureccion form. And also, if that Adjuchas was easily able to overpower her does that mean he was on the same level as a none arrancarfied Barragan? I seriously doubt that. Then again, we all know how ridiculous Kubo’s power level things are, so I’ll just stop going on about this one for now.

Well Aizen’s a bit liar when he promised no more casualties, what a surprise especially going into a war. Then again he did give her more power, not enough it seems, especially when he just kills her off without second thought. Just looks like wasted effort.

Whatever, good episode. I liked how they linked Halibel with Barragan past, made it seem less like they just pulled out it out of thin air and there were some planning. So finally Aizen fight, outnumbered but certainly not over powered let’s see what he can do.
